The Foreign Student Audience Meeting with the university leaders was held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in the Main Meeting Room located in the K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari Building, Campus 3, UIN Salatiga. The event was attended by the Director of the Postgraduate Program, the Dean of the Faculty of Da’wah, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEBI), the Head and Staff of the Finance Department, the Head of LP2M, the Head of International Office, and other campus officials. The purpose of this audience was to discuss the life of foreign students in Salatiga and the disbursement of their scholarships.
Before starting the discussion, each foreign student introduced themselves one by one, beginning with Mafu Ceesay from Gambia. Mafu was also entrusted with the position of President of the International Student Body. Nader was appointed as Vice President, Fatoumatta Yesa Sama as Auditor, and Rakotobey Ezra as General Secretary.
Next, in the question and answer session led by Mrs. Marisa Fran Lina M. Pd, students were asked to fill out and sign the requirement letter as a condition for the disbursement of their scholarships. Some details of the Foreign Students’ scholarship include a housing allowance of IDR 350,000 for undergraduate and master’s students, and IDR 700,000 for doctoral students. Meanwhile, a monthly allowance of IDR 900,000 will be provided to the students. The scholarship will be given monthly, starting from January next year. The scholarship provided in December is a combined disbursement for the past six months, from July to December.
The plan for a dormitory for foreign students has already been discussed by the university leaders, and efforts will be made to implement it as soon as possible. The foreign student dormitory is planned to have adequate facilities, such as a quiet study room, comfortable bedrooms, and reliable Wi-Fi.
Foreign students are also given the flexibility to take the Final Semester Exams (UAS) as take-home assignments, as they need to translate the questions before answering them. This is due to their limited proficiency in Indonesian, as they are still in the process of learning the language.
