The delegation arrived around 9:00 AM and was warmly welcomed by the head of Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Edi Mancoro, Dr. KH. Muhamad Hanif.

In his welcome speech, the kyai (A respected Islamic scholar or religious leader in Indonesia) expressed gratitude for the ISComE delegation’s visit. “Thank you and welcome to Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Edi Mancoro. This pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) is under the auspices of Nahdlatul Ulama and continually teaches students to uphold the unity of the Republic of Indonesia. We are open to anyone interested in learning about life in the pesantren (Islamic Boarding School). Please feel free to explore the surroundings of the pesantren (Islamic Boarding School),” he said.

Next, the delegation leader, represented by the Head of the International Cooperation Center, Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd., thanked to Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Edi Mancoro for the warm reception. “On behalf of the Head of LP2M, Hammam, Ph.D. who could not be present today, I would like to express our gratitude for Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Edi Mancoro’s hospitality. Yesterday, we visited SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga as a representation of Muhammadiyah’s educational institutions, and today we are visiting Pondok Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) Edi Mancoro as a representation of pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) education under Nahdlatul Ulama,” said Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd.

The activities continued with a discussion between the pesantren’s (Islamic Boarding School) head and the ISComE participants, who were eager to learn about the activities at the Islamic boarding school. After the discussion, the ISComE participants were invited to tour the pesantren’s (Islamic Boarding School) surroundings.
