Since its establishment, UIN Salatiga has gone through quite a long history, and experienced several institutional changes. The establishment of this institution stems from the aspirations of the Salatiga Muslim community to have an Islamic university.
The Salatiga State Islamic Religious Institute (IAIN) officially changed its status to become the Salatiga State Islamic University (UIN). This decision was just stipulated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir. H. Joko Widodo through a Presidential Regulation (Perpres), Wednesday (08/06/2022).
In Presidential Regulation Number 88 of 2022 concerning Salatiga State Islamic University Article 2 it says that “with this presidential regulation, the Salatiga State Islamic University was established as a change in form from the Salatiga State Islamic Religious Institute ”. In the future, UIN Salatiga has a mission to make UIN Salatiga a Green Wasathiyah Campus.
