Thai Student H. Ismaal Dareh, Graduate of the Arabic Language and Literature Program 2024, Officially Completes Studies at UIN Salatiga
H. Ismaal Dareh, a student from Thailand and a graduate of the Arabic Language and Literature program (2024), officially completed his studies at UIN Salatiga. He bid farewell to the leadership of UIN Salatiga, represented by Prof. Dr. Miftahuddin, M.Ag. (Vice Rector for Academic and Institutional Affairs/Vice Rector I) and Dr. Suwardi, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Collaboration/Vice Rector III), accompanied by the Office of International Affairs representative, Mrs. Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd., on Friday (29/11).
On this occasion, Dr. Suwardi, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Vice Rector III) congratulated Ismaal and advised him to establish an alumni association specifically for Thai students of UIN Salatiga, including forming its structure to facilitate communication. “This will make it easier for UIN to invite alumni for future events, and more importantly, maintain the bond of friendship,” he stated.
Following Vice Rector III’s advice and congratulations, the event continued with remarks from Vice Rector I, Prof. Miftahuddin. He delivered similar advice on fostering connections. Prof. Miftahuddin had previously suggested that Ismaal continue his postgraduate studies at UIN Salatiga. However, due to personal matters that need attention back home, Ismaal decided to return to Thailand first. Prof. Miftahuddin emphasized maintaining the bond between the UIN family and the Thai student community, highlighting the importance of kinship with Pondok Sasnupatham in Thailand. “The key point is the fraternal bond between the extended family and Sasnupatham,” he expressed.
Prof. Miftahuddin hopes that the return of UIN Salatiga’s Thai students will inspire more international student interest. He also reminded Ismaal, “Always remind the three new students currently studying at UIN Salatiga to maintain their worship wherever they are, as it is a message from their teacher in Thailand,” he concluded.
After listening to the leaders’ advice during this farewell event for international students, Ismaal was given the opportunity to share his impressions and messages after spending approximately five years in Indonesia, particularly at UIN Salatiga. “I am very grateful to the entire UIN Salatiga family. One of the most memorable moments was during the Community Service Program (KKN) because it increased my social interactions with the local community,” he said.
He expressed his happiness about studying at UIN Salatiga. “During my studies here, I gained a lot of new experiences and knowledge. Besides these, I also enjoyed the new atmosphere in Salatiga City, which has very fresh air, a safe environment, friendly people, and is actually hard to leave. In fact, I once left Salatiga for just two days and one night, and I already felt restless and eager to return,” he added.
“Thank you also to all my friends who helped me adapt during my studies at UIN Salatiga. I can’t name you all, starting from my BSA program family to all my friends,” Ismaal continued.
Ismaal will return to Thailand on Sunday (1/12). UIN Salatiga will facilitate his journey to the International Airport in Yogyakarta, Kulonprogo, DIY. His departure leaves three Thai students who are still pursuing their studies at UIN Salatiga.
Mrs. Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd., representing the Office of International Affairs, also shared a brief message with Ismaal. “I kindly ask Ismaal to continue assisting his three juniors who are still studying here, especially in communicating with me,” she concluded.
