International Students Community Engagement (ISComE) Visits SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, the ISComE agenda included a visit to SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga. The visit aimed to directly observe the school’s strengths. The ISComE delegation arrived and was promptly invited for a group photo with the teachers and student representatives of SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga. They were then led to the main hall for the event.
The program began with performances by the students of SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga, including a Gamelan performance, solo singing, English poetry, Tembang Mocopat, and traditional dances. This was followed by a welcome speech from the head of SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga, Suharwono, M.Pd., who, along with the teachers and staff, expressed their happiness for the ISComE delegation’s visit. “We thank you and welcome you to our school, which is part of Muhammadiyah’s educational endeavors. We invite all ISComE students to explore the positive aspects of our school,” he said.
Next, the Head of the International Cooperation Center at LP2M UIN Salatiga, Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd., delivered a speech as the chairperson of ISComE 2024. “On behalf of UIN Salatiga’s leadership, especially the Head of LP2M, Hammam, M.Pd. who could not be here today, I would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful welcome. Over the course of a week, 36 foreign students from 15 countries will be engaged in activities with us. We aim to demonstrate how religious moderation is well-developed in Salatiga and its surroundings,” she said.
After all the speeches, attendees were shown a profile of SD (Elementary School) Muhammadiyah Plus Salatiga along with its numerous achievements. The ISComE participants were impressed by the school’s condition and the students’ ability to showcase their talents. A sharing session was held, and the event concluded at 12:00 PM.
