In preparation for becoming an international campus, UIN Salatiga conducted interviews with foreign students from India

Tuesday (16/06/23), the Center for International Cooperation under the auspices of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) became the facilitator for interviews with two foreign students from India who plan to study further at UIN Salatiga. They are Mohd Rabe who will take a master’s degree in the Islamic Education study program and Robiul Awal who will continue his doctoral studies in the Islamic Religious Education study program.

The interviewer is the Director of Postgraduate Prof. Asfa Widiyanto, Head of PAI Masters Program, Dr. Nursikin, Head of S3 Study Program Dr. Nafis Irkhami and language interview by the Head of LP2M, Mr. Hammam, Ph. D.

Opened in English by the Head of the Center for International Cooperation, Ms. Marisa Fran Lina, M.Pd., the event ran smoothly. Even though there were a few network problems during the interview session with Mohd, Rabe, they were still able to be overcome.

Two languages were used in this interview, English for both, and Dr. Nursikin used Arabic to Mohd, Rabe, because Rabe was a BA graduate majoring in Arabic from Jamia Milia University, India.

Meanwhile, Robiul Awal answered each question well and fluently, because he admitted that he was used to using English as the language of instruction for his undergraduate and postgraduate education in India. He comes from a business and economics background, but he is very interested in continuing his studies in the field of Islamic Education in Indonesia, especially UIN Salatiga.

For information, Mohd. Rabe has been officially accepted as one of the 2023 Ministry of Religion scholarship recipients. “Thank God, our 2 foreign students, both those who have studied for more than 1 year here and will also come or study this year, have been successfully accepted to get scholarships from the Ministry of Religion. Of course, this will really help them in studying here, because the scholarship covers many things that really benefit these foreign students.” Said Ms. Marisa as the Head of the Center for International Cooperation, one of whose duties is to provide services to foreign students.

Hopefully, the joining of these 2 foreign students will add to the fame of UIN Salatiga, not only in the global arena but also internationally. In addition, there will also be an increase in the variety of countries of origin of foreign students studying at UIN Salatiga, previously from Thailand, this time from India, and in the future there will be additional countries from Malaysia and Kenya.
